The year 2021 promised positive changes for many regions across the globe, and Southeast Asia is no exception. To explore consumer opinions within the region, Toluna partnered with Blackbox Research and surveyed respondents in Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
We gathered data on their feelings about their governments and economies and attitudes towards the 2020 U.S. presidential election. We also asked the panel about Chinese companies to gauge their appeal in the region. Southeast Asian consumer insights like these are crucial for brands to remain in tune with the latest trends and preferences within the global marketplace.
Research shows that countries with a better economic perspective are happier about the state of their nation. Respondents who are confident in their governments are also content with their regional circumstances. For example, the collective moods in Vietnam and Singapore are optimistic in areas where the governments are under the least amount of pressure.
